Meditation

Meditation

Meditation is one of the most powerful self-care tools I know of that is easily accessible for everyone.  And there are many versions of meditation available – mindfulness, relaxation, zen, contemplation, concentrative, chakra, breathing, health, walking and many more – so there is sure to be one that is perfect for you.

The short-term benefits of meditation can include lowered blood pressure, improved blood circulation, lower heart rate, less anxiety, less stress, lower blood cortisol levels, slower breathing rate, more feelings of well-being and deeper relaxation. If meditation is practised regularly over a longer period, research has demonstrated that immune function is strengthened and there are significant positive effects on the body, mind and spirit – read about it here.

Meditation, although mostly uncomplicated, can take a while to learn and master. This is where my support can be of assistance. As a regular meditator for over 20 years and as an accredited IMTTA meditation practitioner and a member of the International Meditation Teachers Association teaching meditation groups and retreats for 13 years, I understand both the challenges of meditating as well as the joys.

Meditation style and classes

One of my favourite topics to teach and share is meditation.

My particular teaching speciality is meditation for relaxation and stress release, but I have a huge tool kit of practices to share that covers many of the types of meditation available.

In my one-on-one sessions, I open a dialogue around the particular needs you might have for your meditation practice; you learn easy steps on how to meditate and I guide you through a meditation.  At the end of our time you will also take home a few practices to generate greater focus and awareness.

I also run group meditations, classes and retreats, and the benefits of meditating in a group or retreat setting are dynamic and can heighten your experience, whether you are new to meditation or an experienced meditator. The atmosphere and energy that is generated helps to shift mental chatter and achieve greater focus and awareness.

And when I do bodywork or energy sessions, I may include guided relaxations or visualisations as an adjunct to the physical work. The subtle sound vibrations of the spoken words enhance the healing abilities of the body.

I have had the privilege of witnessing profound positive life changes in clients who have started meditating regularly.

I would be honoured to support you on your journey to discovering and embracing the benefits of regular meditation for stress relief, inner peace, healing and life clarity.
